Ford Recalls 3.8 Million Trucks and SUVsThursday, September 08, 2005[/b] -- Ford Motor Company announced on Wednesday the recall of 3.8 million trucks and SUVs due to a suspected problem with the vehicles' cruise control switches. Ford said the recall applies to vehicles equipped with OEM cruise controls and includes the 1994-2002 models of the F-150 pickup, 1997-2002 Ford Expeditions, 1998-2002 Lincoln Navigators and 1994-1996 Ford Broncos. The National Highway Safety Administration and Ford have been investigating over 550 complaints of engine fires that may be connected with malfunctioning cruise control switches. The complaints include allegations that three deaths have resulted from the claimed malfunction. Ford warned that brake fluid could leak through the cruise control's deactivation switch and corrode electrical components, leading to a possible buildup of current and resulting in fire. Ford said it has a solution to fix the problem once the vehicles are brought in for service. Source: Ford Motor Company On the web. www.ford.com
