My car stereo system consists of a 250W 4ch amp powering 6"x9"(4) and a 2ch 350W powering a 12" alpine sub. i get engine noise no matter where i run the power cable, ground cables(for both amps) and the signal cables for both amps. how do i alleviatre this noise, its very annoying and i hear that a noise reducer does squat? any suggestions? shoudl i get the battery cables swapped for new ones? dirty battery contects or old battery? help

You didn't mention your stereo. This is most likely where the problem is coming from. 9 times out of ten, engine noises comes from a poor quality ground on your radio.
THe sound you here comes from your alternator. I've heard of people putting foil behind there stereo to try to block the signal from the alternator, but I've never tried it myself.
I've not had much luck with engine noise killers myself, but I also only ground with the antenna, and I run a power wire for the stereo directly from the battery. Maybe try powering your stereo direct from the battery???
